- ➤ Kent officials announced that part of Horning Road between Theater Drive and Loop Road and Overlook Drive at East Main Street will close temporarily starting Jan. 7 due to a $25.5M construction project (which will add roundabouts at key intersections) and detour routes are set via Loop and Woodhill Drives. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Townhall II has installed a second free harm reduction vending machine at 512 N. Chestnut Street (Ravenna) to offer test strips for xylazine along with fentanyl and naloxone during regular hours, adding to the service already available at 155 N. Water St. downtown. Record-Courier

- ➤ Kent Roosevelt's girls swim team won the American Conference title during the Suburban League Championships at Akron's Ocasek Natatorium on Jan. 3 (their final season in the league) with standout Trinity Heath winning four events. Record-Courier
