  • Millionaire for Life, a new multi-state lottery game, launches Sunday, Feb. 22 in Ohio and 29 other states (plus the District of Columbia). Tickets cost $5 and require choosing five numbers and one special ball for nightly 11:15 p.m. ET drawings with a $1 million-per-year grand prize.  Record-Courier

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kent State students extended Negro History Week into a month-long celebration in February 1970 (a move that influenced the federal recognition of Black History Month in 1976) to honor African American history.  Record-Courier
  • Jerry M. Lewis, professor emeritus who served as a faculty marshal during the May 4 events, died on Feb. 11 in Maine (aged 88). His work in teaching and preserving campus history left a lasting legacy for students and the community.  Kent State Today

  • Dave and Polly Winchell are renovating their two-story farmhouse on Hankee Road into a modern home using farmland preservation funds from the Clean Ohio Local Agricultural Easement Purchase Program (LAEPP).
