  • Portage County homeowners will begin receiving property tax credits on their second tax bills in 2026 as HB 186 phases in relief over four years. Savings vary by school district with Windham Exempted Village and Southeast Local offering the highest credits while Aurora and Kent see no relief (per estimates).  Record-Courier

SPORTS NEWS

  • Portage County boys basketball action is set with sectional games Feb 23-28, district rounds Mar 2-7 and regional contests Mar 9-15; the recent release detailed matchups featuring teams such as Cardinal, Waterloo, and Garfield.  Record-Courier
  • Roosevelt and Southeast swimmers from the Northeast District qualified to swim at the Division II meet at Cleveland State. The meet will be held Friday, Feb. 20 at Noon at the Robert F. Busbey Natatorium (2451 Euclid Ave).  Record-Courier
