- ➤ Portage County households needing help with winter heating bills must file an application for the Winter Crisis Program by March 31 through the Community Action Council. Limited phone appointments will be available Monday through Thursday starting at 8 a.m. and require documents (utility bills, proof of income, and identification). Record-Courier
- ➤ Tax attorneys say Ohio taxpayers charged IRS penalties from Jan. 20, 2020 to July 10, 2023 can file a protective claim using IRS Form 843 to secure a potential refund; claims must be filed by July 10, 2026 to preserve eligibility, so check your IRS transcript to see if charges apply.
