  • Ace Hardware has signed a lease for a 20,000 sqft space formerly occupied by RSVP at Fishcreek Plaza near Acme Fresh Market in Stow, but an opening date has not been set + the move supports the chain’s expansion across northern Ohio.  Record-Courier

  • The Portage County Senior Board announced its Seniors of the Month for December through March based on academic achievements and leadership, honoring students from local schools yesterday.  Record-Courier

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Ohio congressional candidate Niki Frenchko launched her campaign website OnlyFrenchko.com to share her America First agenda after an opponent allegedly labeled her 'naked Niki.' Frenchko (a former Trumbull County commissioner) is challenging incumbent Rep. Dave Joyce in the primary on May 5.  Record-Courier
  • Rootstown Township became the first local government to earn certification from the Portage Preparedness Initiative after officials completed a three-month review with EMA staff. The free program helps local communities improve emergency planning for disasters.  Weekly Villager

  • Roosevelt senior Gavin Peeps earned honorable mention all-state in basketball on March 26 after posting near double-double averages — capping his high school career and becoming a Kent State football commit.  Record-Courier
  • Windham Bombers’ softball team, led by new full-time coach Larry Jones — a 2002 graduate — is set to reverse recent losing seasons with focused drills and stronger pitching. They face Canton Central Catholic today at 5 p.m. to kick off their season.  Weekly Villager
