- ➤ Christine Untrauer, a Ravenna resident, is working to mark unmarked veteran graves at Maple Grove Cemetery by installing 42 markers including one for Vietnam War veteran Willie Ross Dennis — she plans to extend her project to other Portage County cemeteries and is raising funds through a fundraiser on May 3 at the Ravenna Elks Lodge #1076 to cover the $100 cost per marker. - ➤ Freddy— a 4-year-old cat from Kathy Deptola Animal Rescue— was attacked by an animal and suffered about six infected open wounds on his stomach that required sedation, cleaning, and drainage setons. He is now on the road to recovery after twice-daily warm baths and has tested negative for leukemia/FIV while remaining neutered and vaccinated. Weekly Villager

- ➤ A Pennsylvania man was indicted for a three-vehicle crash on Rootstown Road that killed a Kent man and injured a Trumbull County woman on May 1—he faces felony charges including third-degree felony aggravated vehicular homicide, fourth-degree felony assault and minor misdemeanor reckless operation—according to Portage County Common Pleas Court records.
