- ➤ Portage Park District launched its Community Parks and Trails Grant Program to help townships and villages fund new parks and trails using $100,000 from levy proceeds. The program will award grants between $1,000 and $25,000 per project (no local match is needed) and applications are due by Sept. 1 (applicants can request planning help). Record-Courier

- ➤ A Streetsboro man, Robert M. Schindler Jr., was sentenced on Monday to at least five years in prison for giving fentanyl that caused a woman's non-fatal overdose on May 10th along State Route 59, and for trafficking about 300 pressed pills — charges that prosecutors said warranted mandatory imprisonment. - ➤ Portage County Department of Job and Family Services is raising awareness for child abuse prevention this April by planting blue pinwheels — banners at the Administration Building and urging residents to wear blue while sharing photos on social media. The department will host a Family Fun Day at Brown Middle School on April 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with speakers, demos, games, crafts and giveaways to promote safe and healthy environments. - ➤ Starting May 7, TSA officers will require a REAL ID (with a star) on Ohio driver's licenses to board domestic flights; travelers arriving without proper identification may face extra screening (which could cause delays). FOX8
