- ➤ The Kent-Ravenna Mayor's Food Challenge runs through April to fight hunger with food drop-offs at the Kent Police Department lobby anytime and at Ravenna Giant Eagle on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Officials say donations of non-perishable items—like canned vegetables, Ramen noodles, and peanut butter—are most needed by Kent Social Services and the Ravenna Center of Hope. - ➤ The Portage Park District launched its Community Parks and Trails Grant Program to fund park and trail projects in townships and villages in Portage County — the program will award between $1,000 and $25,000 per project using $100,000 from the 2025 levy. - ➤ Kent State University teaches 65 air traffic & airspace management students using a new curriculum that offers simulation training, advanced air mobility, aircraft dispatch and cybersecurity courses. - ➤ Ruby-throated hummingbirds will return to Ohio around April 20 from their winter homes and local experts advise making yards inviting by planting native flowers, providing water, and using feeders prepared with a sugar solution—James Anderson recommends regular cleaning to keep the nectar fresh. - ➤ With Tax Day only days away, taxpayers are urged to file by April 15—Ohio state taxes follow the same deadline though a six-month extension until October 15 is available if extra time is needed—to help avoid refund delays.
