- ➤ Sandi’s Creative Corner, a small crafts store on East Main Street, was honored last Wednesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Ravenna Area Chamber of Commerce. - ➤ Rose's Rescue has scheduled its annual Pasta 4 Paws Pasta Dinner and Basket Auction on April 26 at Immaculate Conception Parish Hall in Ravenna with dinner served from 2 to 6 p.m. Attendees will enjoy a meal with pasta, meatballs, salad, bread and butter, a drink and dessert and bid on auction items with raffle basket pickup on April 27 from 1 to 3 p.m.—all proceeds will benefit the animals at Rose's Rescue in Rootstown. - ➤ A Kent child care center went into lockdown Monday when a 26-year-old homeless man reportedly tried to enter the building with a gold-colored lighter that looked like a gun—police later located and arrested him, and no one was hurt as he now faces multiple first-degree misdemeanor charges. - ➤ Brood XIV periodical cicadas—emerging every 17 years—will begin appearing in at least 12 states this spring when soil reaches 64 degrees, with parts of Ohio expecting them as early as the first week of May and again later in the month. Record-Courier
