EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kent State University's President Todd Diacon spoke with the Akron Beacon Journal about the school facing a $1.5—$2 million cost for SB 1, tuition limits, and fewer students. He said the school will use its Transformation 28 plan to restructure colleges and cut about 30 administrative jobs to keep teaching jobs safe.  Kent State Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • In Ohio, a service dog is a dog that is trained to help a person with a disability in tasks like guiding or alerting to danger—rules that require the handler to manage the dog at all times. Some people use fake service dogs to get benefits, which can hurt the trust in real service animals.  Record-Courier

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Garfield G-Men overcame last inning struggles as they defeated Rootstown 6-3 at Garrettsville last Saturday afternoon. Coach Michael Paes said the win snapped recent losing streaks and the team will host Akron Springfield at 11 a.m. Saturday morning.  Weekly Villager
  • Shyanne Sellers, a local basketball star from Aurora, was picked by the Golden State Valkyries with the 17th selection in the WNBA Draft. Aurora coach Erika Greenberg said she has known Sellers since she was young and noted that she has kept her true style (which has always impressed her family and fans) as she grew into a top player.  Record-Courier
