EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kent State students worked with London-based artist Adam Nathaniel Furman on a colorful design workshop as part of the Thomas Schroth Visiting Artist Series. Their large-scale gateway installation will be featured during KSU Fashion Week on April 29 at 2:30 p.m. in the Armstrong Gallery.  Kent State Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. DeWine announced seven projects delivering over $123 million in investments & promising more than 2,000 jobs statewide. In Kent, East Trailers LLC is set to add 175 jobs & nearly $9.6 million in new payroll under the plan.  Record-Courier

HEALTH NEWS

  • UH Portage Medical Center began offering robotic-assisted knee and hip replacements in January to give local patients more precise care and quicker recovery; Dr. Rikesh Patel said the program helps residents avoid long drives for advanced joint surgery.  Record-Courier

  • Portage County high schools reported wins in baseball, softball, track, lacrosse, and flag football for the week of April 27-May 3, with Berkshire tying for first in the Chagrin Valley Conference and several teams posting strong individual performances (coaches are encouraged to send box scores).  Record-Courier
