  • Kent's Davey Tree SEED Campus will host the North American Tree Climbing Championship from May 15 to 17 (featuring five contests, an Arbor Fair with food trucks and family activities along with a special Masters Challenge marking the 25th anniversary for female climbers).  Record-Courier
  • Former top-ranked Ohio basketball recruit Dorian Jones will join Kent State for the 2026-27 season after redshirting at Rutgers and leading Richmond Heights to three straight state championships. Head coach Rob Senderoff said he looks forward to helping Jones develop on and off the court.  Record-Courier
  • Aurora, Field and Southeast earned top seeds among local teams in the upcoming OHSAA baseball tournament with games beginning May 21 and potential matchups against conference foes. The tournament draw released by the Ohio High School Athletic Association sets local teams for home games if they advance.  Record-Courier
  • Roosevelt baseball defeated Ravenna and Stow-Munroe Falls at the David Starkey Memorial Tournament held in Kent on May 9, with strong pitching and key hits overcoming rain delays, plus the team honored the legacy of its late namesake.  Record-Courier
