  • Visitors to Blossom Music Center and Porthouse Theatre may face traffic delays from summer road work and new fire station construction (which may cause partial lane closures) in Cuyahoga Falls. Check local schedules for construction updates before attending events.  Record-Courier

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At a May 20 meeting at the Kent campus, the Kent State Board of Trustees celebrated nearly 5,000 spring graduates and reviewed new measures on AI, tuition rates, and a $711.6 million FY 2027 budget. The board also renewed its New York City Fashion program lease (through June 30, 2032).  Kent State Today

  • Kroger has recalled Homestyle Cheese Garlic Croutons after potential salmonella contamination from milk powder was identified + the recalled items distributed in 17 states include local stores and customers should contact Sugar Foods LLC for details.  Record-Courier

SPORTS NEWS

  • Hudson native Ashton Swinford won her fifth consecutive Cleveland Marathon on May 17 with a time of 2:44:36 and now plans shorter races this summer before resuming marathon training in the fall to qualify for the Olympic trials (she has competed in this race for seven years).  Record-Courier
  • Kent State’s football team will meet Notre Dame for the first time on Oct. 2, 2027 in South Bend, Indiana and mark a historic event. The team is also scheduled to play South Carolina on Sept. 5 and Ohio State on Oct. 19.  Record-Courier
