  • Hiram Farm announced the appointment of Daren Houck as its new executive director—he brings nearly 30 years of nonprofit and education leadership focused on supporting adults with developmental disabilities.   • The three historical societies will present Part 2 of the Eleanor Roosevelt program by Susan Cannavino on Tuesday, June 10 at 7 p.m. at Shalersville Town Hall at the intersections of Routes 44 & 303, where the free, handicap accessible event explains her public and private life with light refreshments served.  Weekly Villager

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kent State University signed an agreement with Tashkent State University of Economics on June 2 to launch a joint master’s degree in economics and expand business programs. The partnership advances Kent State’s global ties in Central Asia—marking its third such agreement in the region in the past eight months.  Kent State Today

HEALTH NEWS

  • Ohio health director Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff said after the last measles case in April and 34 cases earlier this year—with one hospitalization and no deaths—the outbreak is now closed. He warned that whooping cough cases are rising with over 500 reported cases and one death in 2025 and urged residents to update their vaccinations.  Record-Courier
