- ➤ Lawmakers proposed a budget that will remove sales tax exemptions on items such as newspapers and jukebox plays, a change projected to raise $312 million over two years to support a $1.1 billion tax cut for higher earners. State lawmakers are working to finalize the plan for Gov. DeWine before June 30 while newspaper leaders argue the change could raise production costs — the proposal is still under debate.
