ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Sunday around 1:40 p.m., Kent Fire Department and Portage County Water Rescue Team rescued 51 people and 6 dogs from the fast-moving water at Middlebury Rd. boat ramp—rescue efforts lasted three hours and included additional help near River Edge Park as storms caused dangerous river conditions.  FOX8

  • This summer TourismOhio updated its ice cream trail and added over 20 new stops, with Northeast Ohio now hosting 41 shops out of 150 statewide—readers can vote for their favorite shop to help highlight the region's new treats.  Record-Courier

  • It is extremely hot with the heat index above 100, so dog owners in Kent must keep walks short and give pets plenty of water and shade to avoid heatstroke. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals warns that heavy panting and drooling need a quick vet visit—pets in danger must be cooled immediately.  Record-Courier
