EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Kent League of Women Voters will sponsor a forum on July 10 at 7 p.m. at Hobbs Hall, 217 N. Mantua St., to discuss how recent budget legislation will affect public schools and local communities. Ana Chapman of the Berea Board of Education will speak at the event.  Record-Courier
  • AP exam scores for Ohio students were released on July 7 by College Board after the May tests, and many schools now use the results to award college credits—students can check their email notifications or log into their My AP account for details.  Record-Courier

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Ohio police chiefs and local leaders support House Bill 217, known as the FIND Act, which would require law enforcement to report missing persons to NamUs 30 days after they vanish—this follows a Dispatch investigation that found the database is underused and is now under review in the Ohio House committee.  Record-Courier
