GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Sheriff Bruce Zuchowski said Portage County Jail is housing up to 20 federal inmates under a new contract with the U.S. Marshals Service that pays the county $100 per inmate per day, and he noted that the county is in talks to house ICE detainees with federal inmates held alongside county inmates. He added that the federal inmates have been model inmates while they work in programs to gain useful skills (the jail expanded in 2018 to boost its capacity). Record-Courier
