- ➤ A Rootstown man was indicted by a Portage County grand jury on felony charges including drug trafficking, obstructing official business and resisting arrest after an off-duty Ravenna police officer recognized him at a Subway on East Main Street on July 5 and a K-9 unit chased him until he tripped near city hall — three bags of meth and cash were found on him. - ➤ A Portage County jury convicted Walter Oliver Green Jr., 51, on July 10 of first-degree felony aggravated burglary and misdemeanor charges after he broke into a Randolph Township home and reportedly assaulted a woman on March 9 — he had previously lived in the home and is already incarcerated after pleading guilty in a separate assault case, with sentencing pending. - ➤ On July 11, the Portage County Engineer's Office announced that Newton Falls Road between Knapp and Rock Spring roads and Beery Road between Beechwood and McCormick roads are closed due to storm damage.
