EDUCATION NEWS

  • Brittany Dye was approved by the Board of Education as Crestwood’s new Athletic Director on July 8 and returns from Hiram College to lead local sports programs. As a 2005 Crestwood graduate and former multi-sport athlete, Dye said her new role gives her more time with her three children + a chance to support coaches and student-athletes.  Weekly Villager

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Brimfield Township is seeking a new fiscal officer as John Dalziel retires on Aug. 1 after 19 years in the role—he said his growing business needs required more focus. A committee of township and county officials will review three applications to select an interim officer until April 2028—candidates must run for election in November if they want to continue.  Record-Courier
  • Ohio will have a two-week sales tax holiday starting Aug. 1 and ending Aug. 14, when nearly all items costing $500 or less—including food, clothing and electronics—will be tax free; online orders that meet the criteria will also be exempt. Officials say the extended holiday will help families get ready for back-to-school.  Record-Courier
