➤ A three-vehicle crash on SR 261 in Kent killed Akron motorcyclist Shaun Phelps on August 12 when a Subaru Outback (making a left turn) collided with his motorcycle and spun to hit a Toyota Camry, and Kent EMS took the Subaru driver to a local hospital. Record-Courier

➤ Rootstown grad Sam Kropp was crowned the first Voice of Ravenna winner on Saturday at the West Main Street Winery in Ravenna—she performed songs by Carrie Underwood and Miley Cyrus and beat out top competitors.
