- ➤ Ohio Lt. Gov. Jim Tressel announced the Team Tressel Fitness Challenge for students in grades 4-8 across over 630 school districts to build healthy habits in fitness, nutrition, and sleep — the 90-day challenge will begin for those who opt in on Sept. 8. Former OSU coach Tressel and athlete Ted Ginn Jr. will visit schools to inspire participants throughout the program. Record-Courier

- ➤ Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine asked the Ohio Board of Pharmacy on August 25 to ban natural and synthetic kratom—an herbal extract sold as powders, gummies and drinks—from Ohio stores because it is linked to over 200 overdose deaths and severe health risks.
