- ➤ A portion of Richardson Street in Ravenna Township will be renamed for community activist Beatrice Mitchell, who helped bring sewer and water services to the McElrath Allotment. A ceremony will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 30 at the Mitchell-McClelland Ballfield (with backup at the King-Kennedy Center at 6660 Garfield Road). Record-Courier
- ➤ This Labor Day, the Nelson Ledges Race Track will host the Second Annual Zach Peterson Memorial Scholarship Car Show from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.—a community event honoring Zach’s memory with classic cars, motorcycles, tractors, a raffle for a 1961 Chevy Corvair, and family fun that will raise funds for student scholarships. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The updated COVID-19 vaccines approved by the FDA will be available in Ohio this season for seniors 65+ or younger people with high-risk conditions—those who do not meet these criteria should speak with their healthcare provider. Moderna will remain available for children six months and older and Novavax for those 12 and up, while Pfizer will not be given to children under 5. Record-Courier

- ➤ The Cardinal Huskies volleyball team remained undefeated after sweeping Garfield 25-22, 26-24, and 25-22 last Saturday in Middlefield—marking their first win against the team since 2020. The Huskies, now 3-0, will next face Fairport Harding on Sep. 2 at 6:30 p.m. Weekly Villager
