  • Safety forces will hold remembrance events on Sept. 11 to honor the 9/11 attacks in Streetsboro and Ravenna. In Streetsboro, community members should gather before 9:45 a.m. at the memorial in front of the Fire Department at 9184 State Route 43 with a procession starting at 9:50 a.m. — Ravenna will hold a brief ceremony at 9 a.m. at 214 Park Way with a bell ring and a moment of silence.  Record-Courier

FINANCE NEWS

  • After 42 drawings without a winner, the Powerball jackpot has soared to $1.8 billion—making it the second largest in game history. Ohio players can buy $2 tickets—extra options may boost prizes—and a cash payout will leave the winner with about $628 million after taxes.  Record-Courier

  • Roosevelt senior Carter Stevenson won the Streetsboro Rockets XC Invitational boys individual championship on September 6th—he celebrated a strong performance that impressed his school community.  Record-Courier
  • In this Week 3 high school football roundup, Rootstown remains undefeated while Garfield beat Springfield Local 40 to 21 after taking a 21 to 0 lead in the first quarter. Roosevelt and Southeast also secured wins—Roosevelt 40 to 20 over Ellet and Southeast 29 to 8—with standout individual plays.  Record-Courier
