Portage County safety forces will host ceremonies marking the 25th anniversary of 9/11 in Streetsboro and Ravenna on Sept.

11. In Streetsboro the event begins at 9:55 a.m. at a memorial featuring Twin Towers beams, and in Ravenna it starts at 10 a.m. at (214 Park Way).

Kent State University's College of Nursing now hosts over 1,600 undergraduate students this fall, the highest number in 10 years, as it helps address the nationwide nursing shortage.

The university also reports its largest incoming architecture class in 25 years (175 students).

UH Portage Medical Center in Ravenna and other University Hospitals centers were recognized on Sept.

8 for meeting American Heart Association stroke and diabetes treatment guidelines, showing their commitment to timely care and reducing disability.

The Mental Health and Recovery Board of Portage County has organized its third Celebrate Recovery Walk and Poetry Reading from 9 to 11 a.m. on Sept.

LoveLight-Spirit of Motherhood Portage is set to hold Sister Circles this fall in Kent, Ravenna, and Windham to support Black pregnant mothers and infants with doula-led sessions, guidance, and essential items (books, gift cards, diapers, food, and childcare).
