  • A winning lottery scratch-off ticket was sold at the Marathon fuel station at 1836 E. Main St — a Cuyahoga Falls resident won the $150,000 top prize in the Monopoly Bonus Spectacular 25K game and will receive $108,000 after taxes.  Record-Courier

  • Costco recalled its Kirkland Signature Prosecco Valdobbiadene bottles sold from April 25 to Aug. 26 due to a risk of shattering even when unopened; customers should safely dispose of the bottles + bring the recall letter to Ohio + Kentucky warehouse locations for a refund.  Record-Courier

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Ohio released its latest school report cards for Portage County districts showing students' performance on state tests and other measures—Aurora earned 5 stars while Ravenna received 2.5 stars. District leaders note improvements in progress and have begun new reading and math programs to boost achievement.  Record-Courier

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. on Nov. 2, 2025—giving Kent residents an extra hour of sleep—and proposals to eliminate the change remain pending in Ohio; the clocks will begin daylight saving time again on March 8 for 2026.  Record-Courier

SPORTS NEWS

  • Portage County high school sports recap shows that in boys golf the Rovers finished third with a score of 380 and Kirtland won the Valley Division title, while in volleyball Mathews beat Windham 25-19, 25-22, 25-13 and Mogadore beat Field 25-10, 25-16, 24-26, 25-16+ in girls sports, Chippewa won 9-0 in soccer and Aurora earned a 5-0 win in tennis with strong singles and doubles play.  Record-Courier
