  • Costco is recalling its Kirkland Signature Prosecco Valdobbiadene sold from April 25 to August 26 because the bottles might shatter even without being handled—customers are advised to wrap and dispose of any affected bottles immediately to avoid injury and get a refund.  Record-Courier

  • The Wick Poetry Center is starting its fall semester with a book launch for 'The Nature of Our Times' by Phillip Levin at 7 p.m. on Sept. 18 at the Kent Student Center Ballroom Balcony — it will also host a poetry reading and open a new exhibit in Cleveland on Sept. 19 at 3 p.m., with an 8 p.m. reading at Last Exit Books & Coffeehouse.  Kent State Today

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Spotted lanternflies are entering their breeding season and will lay egg masses that hatch next spring. The state has added six counties to its quarantine list and urges residents to scrape off egg masses into soapy water or rubbing alcohol—this step aims to slow the insect’s spread.  Record-Courier
