- ➤ Starbucks will restructure its operations by laying off 900 non-retail workers and closing over 100 stores, including several in Ohio. Affected employees will receive severance pay with 60 hours for baristas, 84 hours for managers, and 30 hours for cafe attendants — they have 45 days to decide on the offer. Record-Courier

- ➤ Ohio officials have begun outdoor burning restrictions today to reduce wildfire risks — banning open burning between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. during fall and other specified months. Residents must not burn items such as food waste or substances with petroleum — and are urged to adhere to safety guidelines to prevent wildfires. Record-Courier

- ➤ Southeast volleyball juniors Neena Truex and Leila Evans won a three-set match at Ravenna on Sept 27—after the win they discussed the strong connection on the court that helped their team perform well. Record-Courier
- ➤ Portage County high school sports recaps from Sept 29 reported Tuesday volleyball matches where Windham beat Bristol 25—9, 25—16, 25—11 and Chagrin Falls defeated Rootstown 25—16, 25—15, 25—16, along with a 10—0 girls soccer win by Field over Ravenna. On Monday, Rootstown won 12—0 over Garfield in boys soccer with Zach Pastor recording a hat trick. Record-Courier
