ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Spotted lanternflies are breeding now, and experts say residents should destroy the egg masses by scraping them into rubbing alcohol or soapy water—methods that help reduce the spread of these harmful pests. • Although the Orionid peak occurred Oct 21–23, Kent residents can still view the meteor shower until Nov. 7 by finding a dark spot away from city lights. Stargazers should lie on their backs and enjoy the nighttime display—sites like Geauga Observatory Park and Fry Family Park offer excellent views—while the shooting stars streak across the sky.  Record-Courier
