  • Despite snowy weather, volunteers from Kent State Army ROTC, Air Force ROTC, veterans and students helped the campus grounds crew with the annual Veterans Day bulb-planting on Daffodil Hill—part of a memorial of 58,175 daffodils originally planted in 1985 to honor Vietnam War service members—ensuring the historic site overlooks The Commons on campus.  Kent State Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Ohio SNAP recipients will receive less than 65% of their typical benefits this November, with payments starting Nov 12 based on income and issuance dates. The state will send notices about the changes while it allocates up to $25 million for food banks (and provides extra support for low-income families).  Record-Courier

HEALTH NEWS

  • ByHeart recalled two batches of its Whole Nutrition Infant Formula out of an abundance of caution when 83 cases of infant botulism were reported in 10 states — Ohio has not reported any cases. Parents with the recalled formula should stop using it and contact ByHeart for a free replacement.  Record-Courier

  • Aurora boys soccer lost 3-0 to Bishop Watterson in the Division III state championship on Nov 9 at Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus—ending their historic 22-game unbeaten streak and leaving the team proud of a journey that brought new energy to local soccer.  Record-Courier
  • Kent State University men’s basketball will play UNC-Wilmington tonight at the MAC Center at 7 p.m. following a win over Cornell by a score of 110 to 102 — Morgan Safford was named the Mid-American Conference Co-Player of the Week after scoring 34 points.  Record-Courier
  • Dru DeShields, Kent's starting quarterback, will face the team his older brother TJ supports as an offensive analyst with Akron in today's rivalry game—marking a rare moment for the family.   • After an 86—77 win over UNC Wilmington, Kent State's Cian Medley praised freshman guard Quinn Woidke and said his play helped the Flashes secure the victory.  Record-Courier
