- ➤ Alumni from Kent State's Interior Design Class of 2005 reunited in October at the John Elliot College of Architecture and Environmental Design to tour studio spaces and share memories from 20 years past. Dean Mark Mistur welcomed the group & talked about their work and accomplishments since graduation. Kent State Today
- ➤ Portage County Senior Board named Genevieve Brown of Southeast High School and Trenton Turney of Ravenna High School as November Seniors of the Month for their academic success and leadership. The board picks one male and one female senior each month from across the county (reviewing achievements in clubs, sports, and volunteer work) and (recognizing strong school and community involvement). - ➤ A speeding ticket in Ohio raises annual insurance costs by nearly 24% (about $401 more per year) and usually adds two points to a driver’s license, which can lead to a suspension if points build up. Record-Courier
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ NASA released new photos of interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS showing it comes from outside our solar system and it will pass closest to Earth on Dec. 19 at about 170 million miles away. The comet will be visible with a small telescope in Ohio’s early morning sky — dark sky spots like Geauga Observatory Park offer a clear view. Record-Courier
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Tracy Carter, a Summa Health executive, was named president and CEO of the new Trailhead Community Health Foundation, which aims to improve health and wellness in Summit, Stark, Portage, Medina and Wayne counties. She will work with the board to build the organization and guide its efforts to support local health programs. Record-Courier

- ➤ Mogadore's Conner Lehner earned Offensive Co-Player of the Year honors in Division VII after recording 1,234 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns while Streetsboro's Arthur Scott III was named Defensive Player of the Year in Division IV for making 53 tackles in eight games—both receiving honors from the Northeast Inland District. - ➤ Kent State head football coach Mark Carney said his team lost 28-16 to Central Michigan and that loss ended their bowl contention. Record-Courier
- ➤ The Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association announced the 2025 All-Northeast Inland District high school football teams to honor top players chosen by media panels from nine counties, including Summit and Portage (and seven others). The lists cover Divisions I to IV and name the top offensive and defensive players as well as the best coach. Record-Courier
