- ➤ Windham Police Department will be at Dollar General (9132 N. Main St.) for its annual fill-a-cruiser event on Dec. 7 from 2 to 4 p.m., accepting new, unwrapped toys, makeup, hygiene products and monetary donations for school-age children. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gun season opened on Dec. 1 for all Ohio deer hunters after a youth-only weekend—hunters must follow lower bag limits in counties affected by a deadly deer disease with the season ending at sunset on Dec. 7. Record-Courier
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Tire chains are legal in Ohio and Kentucky—Ohio law permits their use with retractable studs from Nov. 1 to April 15 and Kentucky law requires chains to be no thicker than three-quarters of an inch, spaced 10 inches apart, and used with tires at least 6 inches wide. Drivers are advised to limit their speed to 25 mph to avoid damage to their vehicles and the chains. Record-Courier

- ➤ Experts warn that shoveling snow can strain the heart — adults over 45 or with heart risks should use proper tools, take frequent breaks, and ask neighbors for help as snowfall increases across Ohio.
