CULTURE NEWS

  • Kent State Today marked milestone *In A Flash* number 600 by posting photos captured earlier this semester that show the campus before fall colors fell and snow appeared. Readers can submit framed, horizontal photos with a brief description to be featured in a future post.  Kent State Today

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kent State University's Giving Tuesday campaign raised over $4.5 million from donors between Nov. 1 and Dec. 2 to support 50 funds covering food, housing, athletics and education. Matching gifts and incentive boosts helped drive contributions (including legacy gifts, foundation matches and outright donations) that benefited campus and community programs.  Kent State Today

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Garfield G-Men season begins today at 2:30 p.m. at JAG Fieldhouse in Garrettsville as Coach Matt Hill leads a new roster against Portage County rival Rootstown with Brandyn Bogucki expected to play a key role. The team plans to use a fast-paced, gritty style.  Weekly Villager
  • Portage County-area high school boys basketball teams are previewing their 2025-26 season, with coaches from Aurora, Crestwood, and other schools adjusting rosters and tactics. The previews highlight returning letterwinners and fresh talent to watch in upcoming county games.  Record-Courier
  • Berkshire Badgers girls’ basketball fell 59-33 to Norwayne on Saturday in Burton, testing the young squad on their tough non-conference schedule. Coach Dave Albert said the loss highlighted areas for improvement before they host Kirtland on Friday at 7 p.m.  Weekly Villager
