- ➤ Community Action Council of Portage County offers the PRC program to help low-income families keep children at home by funding emergency utility and home repairs. Families can apply through Job & Family Services and must provide required documentation to access up to $600 for utilities or $7,500 for home repairs. Record-Courier

- ➤ Ohio Goes to the Movies will launch over 250 free movie screenings statewide from Feb. 11 through October in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary—Kent viewers can catch Dog Man at The Kent Stage on March 8. Record-Courier
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Colleges have struggled to keep mental health services boosted during the pandemic after federal funds ended, so new community partnerships are forming to support student needs. Kent State and other institutions plan to use a campus-wide approach (focused on well-being) as demand remains high. Record-Courier
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Ohio’s wildlife is making a comeback in 2025 with black bears, fishers, bobcats and bald eagles reported statewide (including near Pataskala and at the Richardson Forest Preserve near Kent) as populations increase (after historic declines from hunting and habitat loss). Record-Courier

- ➤ Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost warned parents yesterday about rising child identity theft and advised freezing children’s credit (by contacting the three major bureaus) if they notice suspicious mail or calls. Record-Courier
