- ➤ Ohio's tax-free weekend is now a two-week event that will begin at midnight on Aug. 1 and end at 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 14, and most tangible personal property costing up to $500, including food, clothing and books, will be tax-free. Online orders that meet the criteria, such as those on Amazon, will also be included while vehicles, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products remain taxed. Record-Courier

- ➤ Dr. Timothy McDermott from OSU Extension said that tick bites and Lyme disease have increased across Ohio, affecting people, pets and farm animals and putting kids at risk. He urged Kent residents to wear long clothing, use bug spray outdoors and check for ticks after being outside—using proper removal techniques if bitten. Record-Courier
- ➤ The Ohio Department of Health Laboratory confirmed that mosquito pools collected on July 9 from parks in Kent tested positive for West Nile virus, and no human cases have been reported.
